Teaching Preschool STEM Education
STEM education is a new educational approach that is being used to educate preschoolers.
The acronym STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math.
Preschoolers can engage in a number of outdoor and indoor STEM activities that help them to learn and develop critical thinking skills.
Most STEM education activities get children involved with hands-on learning at home and in preschool.
Generally, children already learn using STEM concepts to a certain extent, but focusing on STEM education and activities helps children to learn even more and faster when in preschool.
Let’s look at some examples of how young children can play and learn at the same time.
- Playing With Water-Science & Math Skills
Little children have always been fascinated with water, and it’s a great introduction to STEM activities.
Parents and teachers can easily set up a large bowl of water outdoors and provide kids with measuring cups, empty plastic bottles or even a turkey baster to play in the water.
Before you know it, your child will be using science and math skills.
- Cooking Together-Math, Technology & Science Skills
Locate a simple recipe online with your child, and let your child do all the measuring and mixing. Everyone has fun and learns about math, technology and science.
- Designing a Ramp-Math & Engineering Skills
Setting up a simple ramp made from cardboard, a board or elevating a small table to one side are all simple methods for designing and engineering a ramp.
Provide your child with a couple of different objects and have them roll them down the ramp to see which ones roll the fastest.
Show your child how to chart the results, and they have just learned a little bit about math and engineering while having fun at the same time.
STEM education is the perfect learning method for preschool aged children that make them think, learn and discover the world around them.
We are teaching Preschool STEM Education for a better tomorrow.
